Default Resource for a new key?

Hi Folks,
Just got a new (well new to me) 2001 Audi A6 2.8.
The key is functional, but pretty banged up.
Is there an after market source for them? Or should I buy an OEM?
Also any idea on costs? I have emailed several Audi dealers but I think they have better things to do as I have not gotten a response in three days

Thanks
Lance

The 2001 is the first year for the imobilizer chip you can only get the key from an audi dealer, and they are quit expensive around $250.00.

If the key is functional you can just buy a new casing on ebay.

You should call around to different dealers. The car I bought recently only had one key so I did some checking. I found the dealers ranged from $125 to $250 for a full key with remote and about $50 to $150 for a spare key without remote.
