Hi I bought a salvaged A6 and got most all replaced... It aligns and drivs good most of the time. But sometimes when I look at the front left tire there is no clearance compared to the other side so I am thinking that the Strut or Spring was damaged when it hit the boulovard or whatever it did. Is there a way to tell which it is? I always thought the spring controlled height while the strut took out the bumps.

You have it right so replace the spring. I'm surprised the alignment tech didn't catch it.
