I have a 97 A6 2.8L quattro and the right rear cam seal has gone bad (passenger side) do I need a special tool to change this? I am confused as to what alldata is telling me!!?

also the gasket on the coolant pipe on the same side is leaking...when I loosen the bolts holding it to the cylinder head to get to the gasket it doesnt move back enough (hardly at all)! does the intake manifold has to come off and the hole rear coolant pipe assembly need to be loosened?

thanks in advance for your help,

The pipe is connected to both cylinder heads, unless you unbolt the pipe from the other head its not going anywhere.

The cam seal only requires the compression tool for the tensioner, you can get that at www.ecstuning.com

For some reason it doesn't list it when you select an A6, but it does under an A4. Its all the same exact tool so just order it from this link.

You can actually see the list of engines on that page that it works on, just about all of them.
