Is this the right service manual / Hello All
Hi all,
This is a great forum. I've had my car for almost 6 years now. It is a '98 a6 quattro, 2.8---12V. For 6 years i've been taking it to the audi stealer for repair. I'm pretty mechanical and technical myself, but never even considered doing my own repairs until I visited Audi Diy OMFC! (o my frickin' crap) The way the front bumper swings for service mode. Thats way cool.
When I bought the car, I had them factory certify it which gave me 2 years of full service, and man did I use it. Here' s a sampling of what has been replaced with no questions:
-driver sidemirror
-rear view mirror
-radio
-moon roof motor
-moon roof switch
-led display cluster
There's more, but I can't recall. And, I've had the transmission replaced under warranty too. That wasn't as easy as the other stuff.
I've found that the dealer does thing in stages to fix a problem. Thats why the switch and moon roof motor got replaced. And other things that I've paid for that did not fix the problem. They almost tried to replace the wheel sensor before they discovered it was actually the abs module. (which is not fixed yet)
Anyway, my dealer has treated me very good, and has even cut me breaks on service hours for some repairs I've had to pay for. They've given me loaner cars even after the warranty expired.
I want to study and get to know my car for future repairs if necessary. I went to Bentley manuals and wanted to make sure I get the best manual:
First off, which is more comprehensive, the cd or the book?
heres thebook-

If I get the cd it looks like the quattro is not covered.

So do I need the quattro addendum?

thanks.

RE: Is this the right service manual / Hello All
I have the paper manual and love it. I like that I can take it into the garage with me. Others like that the cd offers a search option and they can print what they need and bring it outside. If I were to buy one again, I would probably go with the cd version.
