Default Rims?

Hello guys,

I am currently driving a 2001 Audi A6 2.7t, and am looking to put rims on my car. I have found 245/35/19 from some guy that I know. They are I believe 5-112 Bolt Pattern. I am just wondering if I will be having problems with the 245s I currently have the stock ones 215/55/16. My car is standard highet I didn't lower it or anything. I am not sure if they will be hitting because they are so big. Please let me know what you think and if it would be ok.

Thanks

Default RE: Rims?

depends on a lot of things... what rims? rim dimensions and et?
also depends on tires, they are not all created equal even in comparable sizes...
I ran 245/35/19 Khumos SPT on my A6 before and lowered quite a bit on 19 X 8.5 rims Et38. Inside was fine outter edge rubbed against liner in heavy load situations. Melted the liner (hole) but no biggy really.

Then I had 245/40/18 Goodyear F1 AS on my new rims 18 X 8 ET35 and they rubbed bad wiht the car not even as low... Had to return them for 235's

Thanks for the fast response. I am not sure what the tires are I also know they ar 19X8.5. I don't know what ET is? The guy that I am buying them from has a new Jetta and its really lowered and he says his don't him. I am only concerned because of the 245s that pretty wide ain't it lol. But its gonna look sick. By the way nice ride got exactly the same color like u do.

these are 245/35/19 Khumos on RSGT rims 19 X 8.3 ET38 and they rubbed the liner a bit but no biggy

These are the 245/40/18 on DTMs 18 X 8 ET35, they are Goodyear F1 AS and they rubbed like crazy as they are bigger and suqarer than the Khumos were... plus they 8" wide rim did not stretch the tirew as much... they ahd to go

By the way, ET is the offset. Ask the buyer what the offset is on the rims. The fact the rims size is 19 X 8.5 is good, that's a perfect size for our cars but the offset IS CRITICAL for brake cearance for exmaple. Also what rims are they? Ask him and also what tire...
245's could fit but no guarantee!

Tried fitting those rims on my car. Sadly it did not work the offset was a 34. I am not sure what to look for an offsett for my car. Any advice would be appreciated. The problem was my Big *** Breaks that are stock on Audis 2.7t. Let me know what offset I need to be able to fit it on.

Purem sells a Velocity RS4 replica rim in both 18" and 19". The 18" fit my A6 no problem. I did obtain confirmation from them in writing (via email) before I purchased in case there was a problem - that way I had justification for sending them back. Discount Tire, who sold me the tires, also checked brake clearance before mounting the tires by holding the rim up to the hub.

IMHO, I would not go larger than 18" due to the lower sidewall required which produces a rougher ride and is more susceptible to damage, and I think 19" tires will cost and possibly weigh more.

It's not just the offset, it is the rim design also. ET34 should be fine. I had a 38 with no issue MY stock tims are ET43 and clear the brakes!
Hartmann RS6 replicas anbd RS4 DTM clear A6 brakes.
