Rough Idle First 30 Seconds Cold Engine
the noise you hear when you first start up you car mainly 2.7's is the secondary air pump trying to heat the cats up when its cold. they can be pretty obnoxious. and as far as i know there is a reflash for 2.7's with a cold start stumble. also carbon buildup on the valves can cause rough idle..id recomend valvolines fuel inection service..has throttle body cleaner fuel injector cleaner and stuff you run through the engine while its running. does a decent job.
I read though this thread (and some others) regarding the rough idle for the first 30-seconds. It seemed to be aimed towards earlier models (2.7T, 3.0, 2.8). I also have this issue on my newly acquired 2005 A6 3.2L model. There were a few suggestions on how to possibly solve the problem, but I didn't see anyone respond that they worked.
I use premium fuel (91-93) and used injector cleaner on a few tanks with no success. I do not have any fault codes at this time...
Can anyone respond that something worked for them?
Thanks.

KC, if your misfire is giving you a code and if it is cylinder specific (and I understand that it is specific to #2) then it should be only related to #2 cylinder. MAF does not make sense. Here is what I would do to play process of elimination.
1. Replace #2 plug wire with #4 and see if #2 is still running rough. (FYI. visual inspection means nothing on for a plug wire)
2. Replace #2 spark plug with any other plug to see if anything changes. If it does then you know the plug is bad. (FYI. visual inspection means nothing on for a plug as well)
3. Run a compression test. It could be that you have a small compression leak which is getting sealed once it heats up.
4. If all of the above does not show any abnormalities, then the only other things that may be an issue are either the injector, or the coil. But juding by the behavior, it sounds like an injector problem to me.
