Hi all,

Have a question was wondering if anyone else had this same problem. I own a 98 Audi A6 Quattro sedan in pretty good condition. Had it for a couple years with no major problems besides fixing an oil leak and tie rods. Has about 180,000 miles now.

Today I drove home from school and on the freeway my car began to decelerate. From 60 to about 45. I pushed on the gas to try and speed up but it just continued to decelerate. Got off of the freeway and it finally stopped completely at a red light where I had to call for a tow. The car starts but it won't move anywhere. When I switch gears from Park to Drive I hear a loud scraping noise and it seems like its coming from underneath the car. Again though, it won't move at all.

Repair shop won't be able to look at it until tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone else had this same type of problem so that I know what I'm getting into?

Don't know if this will help anyone in the future but just found out that it was my Drive Axle.

 

Did the shop tell you what caused the failure?
