SCRUNCHY NOISE AFTER NEW SUSP INSTALLATION
I recently ,( 2000 MI. ago) installed my knew Eibach springs and dampners on my 99 a6 quattro. Now, after all these miles, I have a crunchy noise in the drivers side when I turn the steering wheel. Also replaced 3 control arms
I cannot seem to isolate it, and I can't picture in my head what is happening here?
can anyone help??
THANKS in advance BENG

RE: SCRUNCHY NOISE AFTER NEW SUSP INSTALLATION
Try bouncing the suspension with your hand and see if you can hear it, if it does its something to do with the upper control arms.
If not, rack up the vehicle and grab a hold of the tire at 9 and 3 o'clock. Wiggle the wheel back and forth and feel for slop and any strange noises. If it feels or sounds like crap its your outer tie rod ends.

RE: SCRUNCHY NOISE AFTER NEW SUSP INSTALLATION
Mr. auditec79 , no up and down noises. I can faintly hear the noise when moving the wheel as you suggested. Do not feel any slop.Hard to trace a noise, even with a stethoscope as the sound travels so easily. Seems like its loudest at the front lower control arm end and this is the one component ( other than the tie rod end which seems fine), that has not been replaced.
I thinkI will pierce the boot and shoot some white grease in the joint in order to eliminate it ,and get rid of the noise until I can get a knew arm.
Is this good thinking or not??
Thank you very much and I deeply appreciate your time. Beng

RE: SCRUNCHY NOISE AFTER NEW SUSP INSTALLATION
Don't puncture any of the boots, that will make them fail for sure. The lower control arms never really make any noises, just the upper links, i would be leaning toward the tie rod ends.
If you want to get the lower arm by itself and the tie rod ends check out www.ecstuning.com
You can either get an entire suspension kit or buy the parts seperately.
