Default Secondary Water Pump question

As I said in my other post I had a new buyer check done at the local stealership. Upon closer reading of what they found "wrong" with the car they have listed that the secondary water pump is going out / leaking.

I understand that this is a common issue in the turbo cars. My question is this, because the pump is leaking or "weak" does that mean that it needs to be replaced?

If it is a replacement issue where would be a good place to get one and what is considered a "fair" price? Also does anyone know what the projected amount of time is to fix this?

Thanks once again.

I just did it. Pump is $120. The labor is about 4 hours because they have to take everything apart to get to it.

If you're talking about the auxiliary water pump, I just had mine replaced. $114 for the part and 3 hours labor.

Vehicle was leaking from the rear ofthe engine and Ithought it was a head gasket. A little radiator sealer made it go away. When they did my clutch last week, they saw it was the source of the leaking and replaced it for me.

I probably would not have replaced it if I wasn't doing the other work. I had not noticed any loss of coolant for over a year, although I occasionally smelled somehot coolant after high speed runs. PS - The car also has 89K on it.

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't even smelled coolant, it was just per stealership that I know that it is "going out."

I'm getting ready to have to tear down and replace the valve cover gaskets, is the aux water pump something I should go ahead and do since I'm going to be so far into the motor?

Where did you guys get your pumps?
