Service Warning
Hey everyone, i'm a new member here and have been reading some of the topics.
I've been liking the forums so far.
My new baby is my 1999 A6 2.8T

I've had it for about 6 months now and theres been no problems with the car so far. I know the former owner very well and safe to say he took great care of it. Only 87000 km on it so far.
The only thing that popped up today was the "Service: INSP" warning on the odometer.
From what I can tell this is just a warning to have the oil changed/car serviced and its nothing like the check engine light. I just had the oil changed not too long ago but I guess the service code wasn't reset. I'm wondering if there is a combo of actions I can do myself to turn it off or if its something I need to take it to the mechanic/dealer for?
I'm also wondering if you guys (or girls) can recommend anything I should do to improve the car, I'm not really into the bodykit/exterior modding to the extreme but if it is a small thing that is tasteful I always take it into consideration.

Look in your owners manual...Under the explanation of all the guages and warning lights there will be a blurb on how to reset this. Sometimes the dealer forgets. These cars are real sharp styling wise. I haven't seen a body kit that even comes close to making it look decent. I would start with an exhaust system, suspension MODS etc. You could tint the windows etc. With a 2.8 you are a little limited with engine MODS but you can do things like I mentioned to spice it up a bit.
Thanks for the reply, i'm going to check the manual tomorrow morning and see if I can take care of this myself.
From what i've seen, I wouldn't even dream of a body kit. Currently i'm thinking of something along the lines of a suspension mod but not anything that'd lower the ride too much as Toronto potholes wreak havoc on ride already even though I avoid them and know where every one is on roads that I frequently travel.
Tinted windows are something i've often been told but i'm trying to find a decent price and a nice partial tint that I can live with. Engine wise, i'm very happy as it is and don't think i'd do much meddling there.
