Substitute "Turn car on" for "Turn to first click"

button A is the odometer under the speedo and B is the dimmer under the rev counter.

OEL-OIL service light

press and hold button A,
switch ignition on,
release button A,
the letters OEL or OIL will appear in the odometer display of the speedometer.
pull out button B until the letters are erased and replaced by *--*
that's the oil service light reset..

now the inspection service light.

press and hold button A.
switch ignition on.
release button A.
the letters INSP will appear in the odometer display of the.
if required clear the OEL-OIL indicator from the display as previously described

I have tried the above mentioned "fixes" as well as slight variations listed in other posts, to no avail. I have a '97 A6 Avant and the service message I get specifically is 1n.2 According to the manual, this is just another service indicator (have OEL, 1n 1, and 1n 2). Is there another "fix" for those of us with mid 90's or is this something I need to have reset at the dealer (or just ignore)?

Thanks,

Brian

I have a 96 A-6 (non Quattro) and have the "Service in .2" for 60 sec or so every time I restart veh, then trip mileage appears. Have 120K mi, can this be cleared by me? Purchased veh with no manuals in glove box.
Thanks much

In my 01 A6 (2.7T), holding the right button, turning the key to the 'on' position brought up the service message (along with a beep). Then hitting the left button cleared it.
