Should I buy a used 2006 A6 with 120k miles?
Been looking for a used all wheel drive car to send to college with my kids. I found a used A6 with 120,000 miles that seems to be very well cared for. Car has new brakes new tires and the owner is only asking $3200. Price is low but there is a small dent in the driver side rear door but nothing of that affects the doors operation. My question, is how much is maintenance on the car going to cost me over the next say five years. Assuming that we drive this car may be 6000 7000 miles a year? Any known issues with the year, things to look out for? Car was maintained at an Audi dealership.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

My Opinion and story of my Audi's.....I've had many Audi's over the years, they are very well designed, awesome 4 wheel drive and most important - very safe to put kids in! My A6 is 18 years old and still going strong, my A4 I bought for my daughter to use at University etc. again to be safe, that car is 16 years old now and again still going strong.
Maintenance; both have been more expensive than most cars. Initially I had work done at the dealership, now I repair the cars myself so the expense has dropped dramatically.
So, I would say, if you can do some of the repairs yourself over the next few years and you are prepared to search the internet and this site you will find answers to most things, then you should be ok. If you are going to rely on maintenance at the dealership then its going to cost you more - so buy a cheaper brand of car.
Find out when the timing belt was changed - that's the biggest expense and it may be due to be replaced. Cats may be ready for replacement - I got cheap ones on ebay that work great ($300) dealership is over $2000.... - I'm told I wont get much life out of them but I do low mileage, which you seem to be planing as well so should be ok with the same.
