side markers, will 02+ fit on an 00?

side markers, will 02+ fit on an 00?

I would like to buy a set of these: http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1644
but it says they only fit 02+ A6's. What changed that would prevent me from putting these on my 00?

Shouldn't be any difference, i swapped a fender from a 99 to a 03 before and the side marker went right in. There aren't any body differences between the two. Don't know why the site says it won't fit.

Sounds like a little project. Maybe I should be concerned about cutting into my car but I'm not.
