Default Slick 50 juice...

Ello chaps,

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on slick 50 products....

I have a pristine 2.8 V6 in my A6 and it doesnt burn a single drop of oil even after having 148'000 miles on the clock.
I wondered if adding Slick 50 at the next oil change would be good or do harm to an old engine that is quite settled with its life...

I used to work for a marine diesel manufacturer and we had a customer who bought a load of a similar product only to discover ,after using it, that it had the reverse effect and actually made the bores glaze up... after that it burnt more oil than my local fast food shop!! (lovely slippery crankpin and main bearings though...)

Your views would be well recieved.
Many thanks.

I would say why mess with it. To quote a popular phrase ' If it aint broke, dont fix it'.

dont use slick 50, I have never seen anything special out of
but I did find a few reports that it will eventually hurt the motor
in the long run. Use a good synthetic oil and your all set.

I would NOT recommend using Slick50. This product is the classic example of "snake oil" in a can. There are no proven bennefits.

A CLEAN engine is a HAPPY engine......so the object of the game is to make the engine and fuel system as clean as possible. Here's what I would recommend:

***First, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and get aquainted with the forum. This is a fantastic site that deals with oil, additives and the like.***

In a nutshell, what you should do is start with some Gumout Regane fuel additive in the clear bottle. This product is added to a full tank of gas and will do wonders to fuel injectors (ask me how I know).

Now, go to http://www.auto-rx.com/ and order a couple bottles of Auto-RX engine CLEANER. This product is a proven winner and will do nothing but good things to a motor. This is NOT a solvent flush!!!! This product is environmentally friendly and does exactly what it's advertised to do........CLEAN! The owner/inventor of Auto_RX is a frequent poster at bobistheoilguy.com and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Do some homework before you buy either product......but I guarantee you'll get sparkling reviews on both.

Aaron

My buddy used to use that in his car, but stopped after he went to recycle his oil and they wouldn't take it because of the additive. No ill effects, although he didn't use it long. No benefits either though.
