Default Smog issue

I took my 2000 A6 2.8L that I just purchased into a smog shop. After 1/2 hour the tech told me he could not perform the test because the shop smog computer could not read the OBD2 in the car.

Facts - My check engine light is not on, my ABS light and brake light are on (I've ordered a rebuilt unit). the car was in the Audi service center the day before...get this they replaced 4 oxygen sensors.....$ 1,275.00. I kept the old ones and I'm going to try and find a place to test them.

Question would th fact the ABS is non op affect the OBD read out or could it be another problem?

Thanks

Kim

I'll answer my own question as far as the smog goes; if the ABS light / brake light are on due to the ABS module failure there can be no communication with the ODB2. You can't smog your car untill the repair is made, .....sweet.

Default $1275 for 4 O2 sensors???

I'll bet it still hurts to sit down. Was that at a dealer?

You're right about the OBDII stuff - that bit me a couple years ago.

Sometimes unplugging the abs control unit will make the vehcile communicate. Its worth a try.
