Smoke out the tailpipes / CEL Light
I have only noticed this maybe 2-3 times, When i start the car up for the first time of the day i noticed smoke in the rearview mirror. I got out and saw that both my tailpipes were emitting smoke, then stopped about 15 sec after startup. Again this has only happened 2-3 times.
Earlier today i was goin down the road and my CEL Light (i think, it sais check under the symbol) popped on and has not gone off after many a days driving. I don't think these 2 things are related, atleast i hope not, anyone have any idea what it is?

Hey, I was getting random smoke from the engine whenever I turned off my car every so often... I found out it was a oil leak in the cam.. Obviously with out looking at the car I can't tell if you have an oil leak but maybe?

If the smoke is coming out of the tailpipes then it isnt going to be an oil leak. What color is the smoke that was coming out? The best and most effective thing to do if you want a good answer as to what is wrong with your car is to take it to an auto parts store and have them scan the codes to see why the check engine light is on. They will do it for free and then post the codes on here and Im sure someone on here will know where to guide you after that.

Could be. To the OP, if your light is on, you have at least one code stored in the engine. Go to AutoZone and have them scan the code (it's free). They'll give you the code and a definition for it. The definition may or may not be correct (I've found both to be the case) but the code is right. Get the code and use the Search function here to find out what it means, and post up, and then we can help you track it down.

Finding out what color smoke will tell you if you got an oil leak. The smoke will have a blue color or tint to it and water has a white color. But like everydody else says, get the codes and it'll tell what is wrong.

white smoke is bad, dont mean to alarm you, but you really need this checked out, put your finger in the tailpipe and checked to see if it comes out moist and black
