I am looking for a little info once again....I have a 2004 A6 with the bose system and whenever the stereo is on there is no sound except for a loud popping sound through the speakers about every ten seconds. So is there any tricks to dealing with these amps or is it best just to get another one? Thanks for any info.

 

Sounds like an amplifier going bad (which is, you know, IN the head unit), you'll have to replace the head unit.

 

I thought that the bose system might have had an external amp seperate from the head unit. There are amps on ebay.....

 

there is an amp or something next to the bose subwoofer in my trunk, its a little deeper (closer to the back seats). You can take the side panel off in the trunk and see it clearly...

 

But the rear amplifier only powers the back speakers and subwoofer. If the popping sound is coming from all the speakers then you have a problem with a preamp transistor in the head unit. If it's coming from just the rear you can just replace the rear amplifier.

 

hmm, so I could get a better rear amp and speakers and put them in the same spot as the old rear amp and speakers and make more noise? yay, I wont go JL again though, I dont need to scramble my brain and eyes, lol.
