[:@]I have just recently bought an Audi A6 here in the U.S. When I took it for the first longer dinstance I came to realize that I had a speed limiter in it.
My question is do I have to replace the chip or is there a less expensive version to overwrite this limiter??

 

you didnt mention what year, mine is a 99, and as I recall it, there is a jumper wire off the ecu that gets cut

what is the limiter set at BTW which engine is this in your A6

 

I have just the basic 2.8 quatro. The car begins to stutter at about 95 - 100 miles an hour. I know it can go more because back in germany I have driven one an it went way above 100 miles an hour

 

If it is cutting out at that speed it is not the speed limiter it comes in around 130mph

 

I have a 99 A6 and I recall my manual talking about setting the speed governor. It was in the section dealing with snow tires as they are not rated for high speed.

 

Time to get out the vag.com or take it to the dealer see if they can remove that but you say it just shutters like it will not go any more or the car is shaking ?
