A4A5A6-

Thanks for the post, I've been looking into an upgrade for my 2011 A6.

Couple of questions if you don't mind.

1 - you stated that you didn't think the difference was earth shattering, but in your follow up post it appears that you've knocked off almost a second on 0-60. Is that correct? to me, thats pretty impressive and would be worth the price. 4.3-4.5 is quicker than Porsche cayman s, Carrera S, Camaro SS, even the S4 and S5.

2- Did you investigate other companies? I've seen some products where you can reprogram the stock settings before taking the car in for service to avoid warranty issues. Just wondering if the warranty issue was your decision point or if it was something else.

3- What was the process to complete the work? Same day, while you wait? drop the car off pick it up a day or two later?

4- Do they replace the ECM and you keep the stock one, or is it a reprogramming of the stock unit?

I'm more interested in off the line acceleration than mid range increases.
Any other bits of info would be greatly appreciated.

i drove the car conservatively for the first 2K miles - the difference between the first and second post. In addition to running up against the S4 - I have a colleague who owns a 2011 A6 3.0T and we ran our own comparo and yes - the difference IS significant.

You are correct - the HP, Torque and resultant acceleration stats are better than the S4 and the S5. (disclaimer - I cannot wait for the new S7 with the v8 - that will replace my A6)

I looked into other companies but the only company which is recognized by Audi as complimentary to the warranty is the Stasis upgrade. Warranty issue was a primary driver but the folks from Stasis are exceptionally knowledgable and seem focused only on Audi - I'd say they are specialists.

Procedure is straight forwrd. Book it through a Stasis Authorized Audi dealership (the stasis site lists which Audi dealers are set up), drop the car off - they give you a loaner for a couple of days.

The dealership has a Stasis provided notebook and the dealer will MAP the ECU on site - then send it to Stasis where it is flashed/re-mapped - then sent back to the dealer to be re-installed in the vehicle.

I had mine done when I was having a routine scheduled service.

you're without your car for a couple of days (hence it is important to get a loaner)

To confirm - the original unit is re-programmed and re-installed.

Its fairly straightforward. Where do you live? If you're local to my area you're more than welcome to experience mine first hand

Thanks for the response, very informative.

It appears that the dealership where I purchased my car from is not an authorized installer. There is another dealership in town that is, however. Hopefully they will allow a loaner even though I didn't purchase my car there.

I appreciate the insight. I'm not sure why I'm investigating other options since only Stasis is warranty compliant. I dropped $55+k on the car and I'm going to squibble over $700-$800 dollars? doesn't make sense.

I'm in the Milwaukee area. I would love the opportunity to experience the difference first hand or possibly a side by side comarison.

Nice post. Just got a 2011 A6 3.0T and am looking in to STaSIS ECU only upgrade. The STaSIS website list $1,495 for the ECU upgrade. Is it worth just getting the ECU only upgrade or do I need other upgrades as well? Any additional longer term note worthy observations since the last post? Thanks!

Default Stasis ECU Upgrade

YSS....

I am still thrilled with the performance of the vehicle and would not hesitate installing a Stasis ECU upgrade on any future Audi vehicles.

The only other options you may want to consider - and they are purely a personal choice - would be:

Stasis exhaust: Benefits - polished stainless, nicer sound as pointed out by a previous poster - and an additional 6-8 hp pick up. I did not go with this as at the time I simply didn't want to lay out the additional $$

Stasis suspension kit: The lower suspension package would no doubt make the car handle slightly better but would also firm up the overall feel and I am not racing on the track or driving that hard that the OEM suspension isn't good enough.

I'm just over 40,000 miles on my A6 and will be looking to sell just before the 50,000 mile mark. I am watching for the release of the S6 and S7 and depending on pricing - may end up jumping onto an A7 and having the full stasis chellenge package installed.

In a nut shell - very happy with the decision to install - and have no regrets about not installing anything else.

Good luck!

Thanks! The nearest authorized installer is over 2 hours away. I have a few independent performance centers near-by, but not sure if I want to use them for the install due to warranty issues...
