Default Sticky Door Handle

98 A6 Quattro, 141k

On my passenger side door, to open it form the outside you have to pull the door handle twice in order for the door to open. The door opens form the inside just fine.
What can I do to make the door handle work better?

Thanks

I have a similar problem with my driver's door handle. Someone who is a better mechanic than I (not an hard challenge) may have a more high tech solution, but I purchased some dry lubricant and I sprayed the heck out of the mechanism. It works better for a while, but then it does start sticking again. Repeat process.

you should take your car to the mechanic. there is minor fault in it and it can be easily repaired

If it is a minor fault I would like to fix it myself.

A couple years ago I replaced my drivers door latch because my car no longer acknowledged when I opened the door. IIRC, there was an adjuster screw in there to align the door handle pull. I could be wrong, but I remember having to adjust it on the new latch and now my drivers door has the same amount of travel/pull as the rest of the doors.

Pop off your door panel and check it out. The door panels are extremely easy to remove.

If I am completely wrong, oops, sorry now.

I'll have to look into the handle adjustment --
I have been using WD-40 and graphite lube when the doors became hard to open

Is the amount of force required to open the offending door related proportionally to the temperature outside?
I find my drivers door difficult to open in hot weather I sprayed the latch with a spray lubricant and that seemed to help a grate deal.

It does not matter if it is hot or cold out side.
I have to pull the passenger door handle twice. Doesn't matter how hard the handle is pulled the first time, it still has to be pulled twice to get the door open.
