Default Temp Gauge issue

My temp Gauge is not moving at all no matter how long i drive my car. I have changed the CTS sensor but still the temp gauge is not moving... the oil temp is normal. Does anyone knows what else could be wrong? Car runs the same no issues but the temp gauge does not come to the middle.. anyone had this issue before and even replacing the CTS did not fix it? btw, i have audi a6 2001 2.8L Quattro 82k miles

it could be anything from the sensor to temp gauge meaning the circuit wires to the circuit board. I have the a similar problem but the opposite gauge. my temp gauge is working, but the oil temp gauge doesnt move. the next thing i'm gonna change is that part of the display on the instrument panel. And I have C4 avant.

Have you done the timing belt? do the timing belt now since your getting close the mark and have them change the thermostat. It seems to me your thermostat is stuck.

Miles is not the only thing that the timin belt depends on. Age in years can deteriorate the belt. Honestly speaking with 83k I'd go ahead and do it in the next 5k. I changed mine at 87k last year on my 2.8 and the mechanic said the belt was pretty worn. If that belt snaps you will be having to take out more than the amount of money you would be spending on the belt. You will have to rebuild the engine or get a new one. Do not trust that your car will last 105k with the original belt and being 11 years Old. You will have to do it sometime so why not do it earlier than to avoid it and take a risk. It only costs 800 for the whole job with new water pump, serpentine belt, timing belt, thermostat and rollers.

And since your car isn't overheating I wouldn't think it's a big deal. But if your temp starts getting hot then you should change it ASAP.
