TIme for exhaust...
I was thinking of doing an exhaust on my car. instead of going with two mufflers, i was thinking of cutting out the resonator and the two mufflers, and going with this in place of the resonator: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...129+4294903588
then running pipes back from there. what do you guys think? How loud do you think it would be? of course im tempted to go loud but i also dont want noise violation tickets either. Also im not 100% sure, but i think i could pass inspection with this in nj, correct? they require a muffler, and that is a muffler. that's my logic atleast. let me know what you think.

found it: N.J.S.A. 39:3-70 Loud, Defective or No Muffler
All motor vehicles having a combustion motor must be equipped with a muffler.
Must prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke.

It is really hard to tell how an exhaust setup will sound unless you've actually done one. I would think that you need a resonator of some sort... Straight through mufflers sound great on old school V8s, but on a newer 6s, it tends to create more of a drone, rather than a throaty sound. But once again, unless you actually do one, you really can't tell.

I recently cut off the resonators on my 02 A6 2.7T and its allot cheaper for one and the sound I'm very happy with. Its not insanely loud and it also doesn't sound like i have a coffee can for an exhaust. People always ask what I have for an exhaust and are very surprised of the sound I got from doing that.
