Well now it's about bike vs. car! Couple things - for five grand is the car still running? What bike did it stomp..a Honda Rebel? Finally for about six grand you can by a used GSXR that will run mid to high nine second quarter mile 0 - 60 in about 2.3 seconds get about 35 miles to the gal. and not need a valve adj. till 26,000 mi. Oh yea, and you can ride to work every day!!

Now please back to my car.

I have the same car as you and plan on upgrading it in the future...though i'm putting it off for a year or so. The options I've seen are few but still good options.

The 2.8 is a pretty sturdy engine and I assume you don't want to ruin that.

There are chips for the engine but they only give you about 10hp. Probably not very noticable.

There is a tiptronic chip that will make your shifts much faster (five times they claim) and it has many many excellent reviews by people here. It'll cost about $25o. Thats a definite in my book.

The greatest upgrade for this engine is the supercharger kit. It is bolt on and gives you an extra 100hp. It does not work with the other engine chip (DOES work with the tiptronic chip).
This kit costs $5000 and also has excellent reviews. They say that it doesn't even ruin the reliability of the engine. They also say (reviewers that is) that it stills feels smooth...as if this car was meant to have it installed.

Lastly there is the RNS-e. This is the GPS unit that comes stock in later Audi's. It'll cost about $1200 and is an excellent option. Again it installs to look and work as if it came with the car stock. Even works with the steering wheel controls if you have them. It includes handsfree bluetooth, mp3 capability, DVD capability, and you can even add to it a little and watch TV!
Here is a little more information.

Everything else is pretty cosmetic and depends on you style.

Good luck! And have fun.

Speed tuning deffinitly pass. This is more trol tuning than real tuning. Stick with something proven. this is a audi not a accord.
Quite true. Reprograming an ECU is serous business and is not the time to go cheap instead of going with a proven quality system. I'm back to GIAC, Vast, or APR as the only way to go. I can't trust the others.

I'm quite happy with my Speedtuning chip for my A6 2.8 30v. This is the same model that was asked about and all the reviews I've found from owners of this model for the Speedtuning upgrade have been positive.
I don't have dyno numbers but then again I don't drive on a dyno. In my own real world driving experience the chip does liven up the throttle response and give it a bit more kick.
Isn't that what the OP was after?
