Default Timingbelt?! C service??

I just had the CT dealer fax me my service history that showed no timingbelt replacment, unless a "C service" is a timingbelt job??? this was to my suprise, due to that fact it's a one owner, and heavily dealer serviced A6. I actually know the previous owner, but she said "I'm not sure", and has no receipts (single mom). The car now has almost 90 on the clock, is there any way to have a mehcanic check to see if it been done without having to start taking apart the motor (prob not right). Don't you think that the techs would have suggested a timingbelt, she did anything they told her!!

I'd start with visual inspection first:
Take the timing belt cover off and look for: color, cracks, aging.
Along the timing belt other things are usually replaced: thermostat, water pump, tensioner.
The bill should be quite substantional-therefore there should be some recollection and history.

I just can't understand how a dealer only serviced car has no listed timingbelt job, but thanks for the suggestion, I will have the belt visually checked. Also the list I got from my local dealer (which is great) and the one I got from the original dealer don't sync up, some service departments can be so frustrating, took me about four hours to get new country (which sucks) to actually fax me the list, so much miscommunication, unbelievable.

According to the Audi maintenance card for the 1999 A6 the timing belt is due at 105,000 miles, so the dealer may not have changed it.Most people will agree it should be changed a bit sooner. Better safe than sorry...
