tips and suggestions for the new 2.7t owner
hey, just bought myself a 2002 audi a6 2.7t with 73k miles.
info is very helpful just wanted to know any current recommendations to tuning the car intrested in body kit concepts, rims, headlights (mine are quite curoded) and performance upgrades wanna really raise the horses.
also just lifted the car and all i got was a recommendation to change the timing belt. is it really that nessary because i was told the engine and trany sound very good.
thanks!!

Ive heard 70K miles u should swap out the belt. I went 110K on mine and the belt was fine. I would be leery of a belt that is now 10 years old. If the belt goes, you're screwed. Eventually the internal water pump will corrode and fail. An expensive repair. Happens to virtually all 2.7's. Flashing the ECU will get u another +/-50 HP but will set you back $500 for the privilege. If u r gonna do belt, do the water pump and pulleys/idlers as well. Go to ecs tuning and get the kit fr about $180.
Just bought a 2004 Allroad auto 2.7T no mods 106kmiles Loving it so far.
Read the posts and wanted to say thanks to all who have posted before

I just bought a really clean A6 2.7T with 79k on it.... Car feels and sounds great. I just called and got a qoute on a timing belt replacement. Parts and labor $600 sound about right?
Thanks and hello to all.

i LOVE this car.
I HATE THIS CAR.
EVERY item listed - we've had issues, and/or replaced. no audi dealership within 2 hours of here.
MAF replaced TWICE.
timing belt service @ dealership w over $1500 other 'items'....
spent another $1600 this past summer.
now CAT convert is 'out' --- $2300 quote from dealer; have asked SEVERAL local shops to do after market - ANYTHING ... but none can find it or will do it.
NOT gunna spend that kind of money.--- DO NOT HAVE that kinda money!!!
NOW---- JUST 10 mins ago ..... transmission (i guess??) MAJORLY slipping!!!
J

UST had the inner and outter tie rods (DRIVER'S SIDE ONLY) replaced due to CRAZY loud noises!!, and tires aligned & balanced at local (very nice) tire shop ---- {they DO NOT usually deal with 'audi' - but do for us.}
COULD THEIR SERVICE AND REPLACEMENT OF TIE RODS AND ALIGNMENT have done something to the trans?????
*I'M A CHICK ... so PLEASE no 'short cuts' with the discussions ... i get lost when i'm trying to read some of your previous threads with just letters for words.... I'M SORRY!!!! (need more testosterone to understand -- i guess???)
have a home diagnositic tool. got the 3 codes below:
(think the first 2 are the cat convert --- which I cannot AFFORD to fix ---- & was told it is 'optional' as far as 'needing' it to operate ...?)
so ... is it causing the MAJOR transmission slipping??? or could the tire shop have done something when they put on new tie rods and aligned & balanced tires???)

Hey Guys,
Im the proud owner of a used 2003 A6 2.7T Quattro. This is my first Audi and I have a couple of questions. Besides the service that should be done to the car at 85K miles what else should be done to the car? For instance, unfortunately my A6 has 135k miles oO... So is there anything additional that I should be looking into besides what the OP has already mentioned?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

hello audi world this is my first post, i have an 01 a6 2.7t quattro tiptronic with 162,100 miles, and i would like to some things to it to make run waaay past 200,000 miles, everything on it is stock, i am the 3rd owner and the previous one had it from 27,000 miles to 123,000 when i bought it,all the maintnance records are with me, it runs well, the most powerfull car ive ever had, but the cam seals are leaking, the power steering pump is leaking and im sure there are a few other things that need work, the cv joints were replaced a couple of time and he also had leaking oil issues that have now come back. i want to hook up with someone who knows a lot about this car and who loves working on them to help me make run at its best and also teach me some things along the process, i will drive to you if necessary. all ive done to the car is put new front rotors and pads, rear bilstein shocks, i will put in front ones soon, put a new fuel pump, the original one died and replaced the AC cooling fan. 80% of my miles are highway, so far the car shows no signs of failure, but i dont wanna wait till it fails. someone please help, thanks
