Default Tire recommendation for stock rims

I just got a used 2000 2.7T A6 and need to buy new tires.
The old ones are the stock 215/55 R16 Contitouring tires.

What are recommended tires for All-Season?

Also, how is the ride if I bump up to 17" tires on the stock rims?
Will they be significantly noticable on bumps? (I live in pothole-city, NYC)

Thanks

Pierelli P Zero Nero tires are some of the best all season tires on the market, and ranging in price from $120 to $170 a tire its not a bad bargain either.

Would that be the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S for the all-seasons?
I didnt see a 215/55 R16 listed for it

Those tires are often Z rated, so you would have to step up to 17 inchwheels i believe.
For the 16 inch tires, humho makes an excellent all season tire as well, but i can't remember which one it is. Its on the Tire Rack though.

But to be sure, you are talking about the Pirelli PNero Zero M&S tires, and not the summer tires.

For the 17" tires, would I have to get the 235/45 R17?

I bought BF Goodrich G-Force Sport on my previous A6 2.8 with 16" rims.
It was around 80 usd each.I was very happy with them.
I dont think you can install 17" tire on 16" wheel.

Remember if you buy from the store you can negotiate the price. I saved 20% at National Tire and Battery by telling sales guy that Discount tire offered me for less.
good luck

The nero tires are all seasons, and will be listed as all season tires as well. The summer version tires are known as Rosso Pirelli's.
You would probably need to get 235/45R17 tires yes.

I guess I'm confused about the Pirelli PNero Zero since the TireRackdescription shows it as a "Max Performance Summer" tire:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....del=PZero+Nero

Was the other tire you were referring to the Kumho Ecsta ASX? Pretty cheap at $93!

kupiec79: You can fit a wider tire in the stock rims

They are Pirelli Pzero Nero tires, not Pnero's lol. But yes those are the allseasons, they just say that because it also has amazing traction in dry weather as well as wet traction. The Rosso's are the summer tires.
I Think the ASX is what i was talking about it they are the all seasons.

Thanks for the advice. I've seen a lot about the Pirellis, but the Kumhos are nice too
