Default Tires

Anyone have advice for tires on a 2000 A6 2.8T manual transmission with 75,000 miles. I live in Seattle and want a good all weather (rain and snow) tire but don't need high performance. I may occasionally drive 70+ but not much more and no crazy stuff in the mountains. Thanks

WOW I hate the tire question... It is like asking what food tastes best.

But I agree with beefski -- Yoko Avids are a good choice for most conditions... Unless you want to impress everyone with how much you spent on tires....

Everyone in Vancouver?
Most people in Vancouver?
Some people in Vancouver?
A few People in Vancouver?
Those on your block in Vancouver?
Two people in your bridge club in Vancouver?

What does "quite happy" mean?
Deleriously happy?
Jumping up and down happy?
Awwwww crap --you get the idea!!!

I hate the tire question almost as much as what color wheels would look good on my car !!!!!!!

I've been happy (me myself) with the OEM Pirelli's as an all-weather tire. Lots of rain and snow in Michigan. I do swap them off in the summer for the Conti's, but that's for asthetics. See signature.

I've been running BFG G-Force skins on my '03 4.2. Very nice handling tire, wet and dry. Haven't been to the snow yet though.

Just put a couple Pirellis on the front of my car. I had 2 low tread tires on the right side, and damme if it does not SEEM like the car has better performance straight out the door.

I don't know if it is possible, with a Quattro, for tires that are different size on 1 side to make some kind of tension to make it run poorly, but am happy with what I have now.

They are not different SIZE, just the right side tires were nearly worn out, so maybe 1/4 inch smaller in diameter.

My store, Pirellis were 98 bucks each, plus all the addons.

This is the first day that I have had bad roads to confront. I gotta admit, this car does very well with them.

Cheers,

George

I have since switched over to season dedictaed tires, but I was running Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S before that and they were pretty good. My wife had the Yokohama Avids on her old minivan and they were decent.
