Default Tires (alignment?) problem

A6 Quattro 2.7t 2001

Bought it from a dealer off lease. The Conti Touring Contacts were in bad shape. They replaced them with used tires that looked ok but could have been cross rotated.

1K miles later the outside edge of the right front showed lots of wear and there was significant pulling to the right. My local mechanic (a very highly skilled Porsche and Audi shop) did a complete 4-wheel alignment (not significantly our of spec.) and put 2 new Conti Touring Contacts on the front. The right pulling was greatly reduced.

But, 2K miles later the outside edge of the right front again showed excessive wear and the right pulling is as bad as ever. My mechanic re-checked the alignment and it was in spec. He is very upset that he can't figure it out and suggested that I check the forum for advise.

BTW the Carfax report didn't show any accidents reported on the vehicle and my mechanic sees no evidence of frame or component damage.

I hate the thought of going back to the dealer!!

All comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

Ray.

I would def go back to the dealer, may be bad tie rod, or other suspension parts on that side.
