trade 3.0 for 2.7t
#2
I think that depends first on the condition, mileage, and performed maintenance on the two vehicles. No sense trading a well-maintained, trouble free 3.0 for a beater 2.7T. That being said, the next question is "why?". If you want performance, then the 2.7T is a good way to go. Stock it has 250hp and a simple chip bumps it to 318hp. Stage 2 and 3 mods can take it well over 400 hp. But be prepared to spend some serious money beyond chipping for the upgrades and to repair stuff (like the tranny) that the power will break. A 2.7T with an MT6 is a better candidate for mods than the tiptronic. For the record, I lucked into my 2.7T without knowing much about it, and love the vehicle even after 172k miles. I also bought a 2003 A4 3.0 MT6 for my daughter, and it is a great car and engine at 86k. There are a lot of bigots who don't like the 3.0 engine; and a lot of bigots who love the 2.7T but live in fear of blowing the turbos (~ $3k repair). I belong to the latter.
