Morning all i have a 2000 Audi A6 2.4cc engine now i brought a 1998 Audi A6 2.8cc engine. I did a tranny swap and i was having a problem where the tranny would jump between 4th and 5th then go 2 limp mode. did a check and found out its saying Tranny gear ratio error. My question is if i change the ECU for the tranny would the engine ECU have a problem coresponding with the tranny ECU

but what tcm are you using? the one for the 2.4 or 2.8?

 

You can change TCM with another,. of the same part#. You will then need to correctly code the TCM. However, i'm a bit skeptical about that fixing your problem. Your code indicates something slipped for some reason,.... internal leak, bad seal, worn frictions, low fluids....etc.

 

Im using the TCM for the 2.4
