Default Transmission Identification

Hi New'dum'bie here,

I have a 2003 Audi A6 4.2L V-8 Quattro Automatic. I bought it a month or so ago and have loved every minute since.

I am preparing to do a transmission fluid change and am trying to identify what my transmission code is. According to my Bentley Service manual I should have a type 01L or 01V. When I look at my trunk label on the line that contains the engine code and transmission code it reads "AWN GME FUL". I know the AWN is for the 4.2L V8 but what does the GME FUL tell me about my transmission? Does the L mean 01L?

I'd contact the dealers with car's VIN=> if everything is original on your car - you should be good with the feedback.

The other way is to look underneath at the shield on the transm case.
