my transmission has been slipping for a week or 2 now, and this morning it went into limp mode. Its an 00 A6 4.2 with around 80000 miles, does this seem odd to be slipping at only 80k? Does anyone know if i need a transmission rebuild or if it could just be the TCM? thanks for any help in advance

Get the codes, then take it in and get the fluid flushed and changed first off.

Question, if it was slipping for 2 weeks, why did you drive it? Could have been as simple as a leak causing low fluid.

 

TWO WEEKS? should turn down the radio and listen to it once in a while probably whined for a month.
