Turbo clips @ 12 lbs ~ levels to 5 lbs
Hello to A6 Audiforum members.
I have had my A6 2.7T for about 3 months. As the suggestion of a factory authorized rep friend of mine, the two diverter values were replaced by Bosch units and the wastegate sensor value as well. I also had a boost gauge installed to monitor the turbo. This car also has a medium aggressive chip installed but do not have specific details though I can get them.
While I plan to have my car fully gone over by month's end by this mechanic, the turbo recently started clipping. Whether cold or warm, if I feather the accelerator following the boost gauge up to about 10 lbs, everything seems to work fine. When I ignor looking at the boost gauge or really hammer the accelerator aggressively, as soon as the boost gauge hits 10-12 lbs, I feel and see the boost clip down to 5lbs. From there, the boost will never go higher than 5lbs. If I turn the car off (resetting everything I guess), then the boost can return to higher values following the "feather routine".
This suggests something else electronic is being triggered? ~ Am I correct?
Look forward in hearing from you all ...

It seems that you are going into limp mode. I have heard of this before. Unfortunately I don't know much more about it. Search the forums for limp mode and you can get more info on it.
