If you are going to upgrade to KO4's, you going to need a programmed ECU for the upgrade to accommodate for the upgraded turbos. There is a lot to think about if your gonna go KO4's. Transmission, ECU upgrade, exhaust, fuel system etc.... You may need to rebuild the transmission if you are upgrading to KO4's. To access the turbos, you will need to pull the motor. If your there, the stock converter fails due to a internal seal in the converter, which is why I am rebuilding my motor. I got a P0741 code, new converter with upgraded seal from ebay = 300$. I was considering to upgrade my turbos to KO4's but I decided to wait so I can address the transmission rebuild for future endeavors. I plan on finding a used ZF transmission, rebuild it at my leisure & then find some KO4's in due time. I decided to rebuild the stock KO3's and gutted the precats. That with the APR stage 1 is fine for now. Till then, the stock turbo's with gutted precats will be fine.
