Upgraded EVERY Interior Light to LED :o)
Yes, license plate bulbs were the 1st to be changed last year after lexus 1st releasing their cars w/ it. I absolutely loved it!
Msierra: Mine did the same thing - but i just kept pushing down on it with even pressure distributed until it popped down. It just seems harder than the others because it's the one that is upside down...but you should be ok.
Justin: All in all the project cost me a little over $100...doesn't sound like it'd be that expensive of a project when the bulbs are $3-7/pc but when you realize HOW many you need, lol yea it adds up quick. Plus don't forget s/h charge.
Astroboy: Yes, the lights still fade out as normal working condition of the halogens. Only, instead of my interior being ugly yellowish, it's a beautiful whitish blue that matches my 8000k HIDs and also the license plate.
Just in case you were wondering, folks, I ended up taking out the red LEDs and putting the white LEDs in place of them. The red were causing problems - not sure exactly why - but seemed to be shorting the system. Glad you guys like!
chefro: Sorry bro - for the longest time the thread was dead so I just forgot about it lol Might get some good ones taken on my next day off perhaps

Ben, no worries man!
I was really curious to see a clear pic with the interior lit at night. I know without a good camera it is difficult to capture something in the dark without the flash, even in "night" "party" or "museum" modes.
Anyway, it is a sweet mode.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Merry christmas bro!!!
I tried to take some last night w/ the blackberry...yea wasn't working too well w/o the flash lol I'm going to have to pull out the digi when it isn't so damn cold. This morning was 7 degrees when I left at 4am for work! Thank god for 6 lvls of heat in the seats haha

I don't think there is any way I can do this quite the way I want . In my 2005 A6 I have 4 light on the top up front and 2 in the back . What I want is to have the 4 smaller lights to be replaced with red LEDs and the 2 large lights to be replaced with brighter white LEDs . I want only the 4 red LEDs to come on when I open the doors and the larger white ones to be controlled by the map light switches (it is exactly the opposite by default) . This way I get the bad *** red glow when I get in and out but have on demand bright white up front .
I really want to do this and refuse to have a setup where I only have "the pretty" , I need the function as well .
Has anyone here ever payed a pro to change function like this ? I am betting there is going to be annoying light fault issues to deal with . I am doing exhaust , head lights and wheels in the spring and was hoping to avoid paying someone to do this as well but I think I am stuck with it if I want it .

nosarrah, honestly I don't think it can be done w/o having to re-wire. Stock wiring enables all 4 dome lights (what you called "large lights" - front & rear) along with the two map lights ("smaller lights") when the door(s) are ajar. In order to prevent the dome lights from enabling during door ajar, you can manually turn the switch to the OFF ("O") position, however, this will disable your map lights (what you want to be red) as well. They are wired together on the same circuit, but are also wired to switches so you can manually turn one or both map lights on separately without the dome lights. I have 4 lights in both front & rear (2 domes, 2 maps per both). I honestly got rid of the red LEDs as for some reason they were shorting the circuit and causing the dome lights to malfunction and not turn on when manually switched to "ON."
You could ask an Audi wiring/electronics expert if this mod can be done - but IMHO, I don't see it being worth the time or effort. You can already expect to pay around $100+ just for all the bulbs if you plan on changing the entire car out. Which, personally I think you should. Would look rather strange if you have super white LEDs for the domes and your puddle/floor/trunk/vanity/etc are still stock halogen. Just my $0.02

When the time gets closer I will let you guys know how it goes . Right now I am just starting to look around at local shops . There is a local guy that does nothing but foreign cars (worked on both my old and new A6 , did a hell of a job and in all cases same day work) . He is close enough that I wont even need to rent a car while he works on it (I am close enough to everything where I live that I could go a month with no car with no issue) .
I am not actually worried about the $ , it would have just been nice to do a little of the work myself . I got the car for way less than I should have (loaded 2005 A6 4.2 with 35k miles for 22k) so I don't mind putting the $ back in making it more unique .
