My engine light is blinking and car is vibrating when I drive. Got the codes checked and it read cylinder 1 and 6 mis-firing. Is it true that 1 coil caters to 2 spark plugs/cylinders? Mine is 2000 A6 2.8 L engine. I was thinking of replacing the ignition coil pack and wanted to know which vendor on ebay aor amazon is reliable? If anybody has bought it before and can suggest, it will be great help. Thanks

 

If your CEL is blinking, the manual tells you not to drive the car. Misfires can dump gas into the catalytic converters and ruin them. I believe the 2.8 engine, like the 2.7T, has one coilpack per spark plug. If it was me, I would use oem coilpacks. I got 186k out of the originals before they failed (same symptoms you have) and they were replaced under a recall warranty. You might check with a dealer and ask if your car was recalled for coilpack issues.
