View Tire Pressures on MMI?
Hi All,
Just bought a 2007 A6 4.2 over the weekend. LOVE the car! (And that from a former die-hard BMW owner!)
The car has the TPMS, but I can't seem to be able to read the tire pressures themselves on the MMI. (I know the system is installed because a TPMS warning (yellow tire cross-section icon) came on in the insrteument cluster display during a test drive.) I can find the TPMS option in the MMI, but when I go to that page I don't see the tire pressures or an option to view them.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, or is it possible that viewing the actual tire pressures is not an option on my car?
Thanks.
Joe

In doing some web searching I've determined that the TPMS in my car does not show individual tire pressures. Bummer.
If I understand it correctly, the sensors are indeed in the wheels in my car (all five), but instead of monitoring each wheel separately (with a sensor in each wheel well) they instead monitor all four (the spare isn't monitored) from one central antenna and only report when a tire is low, but not which one (because it doesn't know).
I see some posts about retrofitting the items that would allow the MMI to show individual pressures (wheel well sensors, control module, etc.), but no clear step-by-step instructions for installing them.
Does anyone have these instructions or know where I can find them? Or anyone who does this kind of work? (I'm in the Baltimore area.)
Thanks.

Joe, glad you like the A6. In my opinion, the more gizmos the more there are things to go wrong. My suggestion is invest in a $3 tire pressure guage and check the tires regularly. If the TPMs work on your A6 like they do on my Crossfire, they only alert if one tire is > 2lbs different than the others. Pressure can fluctuate with external temp, so checking with a guage is the key to healthy tires and good gas mileage.
