What to expect in > 100k miles
Hey all, am in the process of trying to find a 2002-2004 A6 with the 4.2 and am finding that they all have around 90-100k miles.
I know there is the timing belt/water pump/etc service which is fairly costly. Wondering what other things to expect during the 100-200k miles period.
Thanks

you name it it could happen
control arms ( all ) and there are lots of them
shocks wear out, transmision gets toasted... alternator .. trunk struts, windows won't go up, speakers die in stereo, paint delaminates, switch for rear window control breaks, SAI pump may die ( if you have one on that car) oil leaks .. oil leaks again .. oil leaks a third time .. bad 02 sensors, cats die, .. well there is a list fo starters , this was easy because I have done all this.

Lol, yeah... come on, you're supposed to tell me that everything is great and that I will have no problems at all!!
No, I realize that buying an 8+ year old audi with 100k is going to mean many dollars spent in the coming years. All in all what do you think your ballpark cost figure for all this has been?
Should one just say f* it and spend the extra $15k+ for a newer car? (even though one loves the 2002-2004 sport package body style!)
Thanks a lot for the info!
