Default what oil show i use

Well Ive had my 96 2.8L a6 for almost 2 months now and iv gone though a little over 3000 miles and i want to do a oil change but im not sure what i should use. The previous owner used 5w30 Mobil1 synthetic so should i stick with that or is there something better i should use? the car has 120,000 miles on it by the way.
Also it looks like he went to the dealer and bought the oil filter their so i'm not sure if they just sell some brand or if its the same filter as the factory one, should i do the same or is there a better filter i should get or whats the best filter out there?

thanks

There is nothing wrong with 5W30 Mobil1 syn oil, not sure how you're going to get anything better. Use a Mann filter or one from the dealer. You can search the forum, there are loads of articles on oil and filters.
