What should I expect to pay for a coolant reservoir replacement?

I have a 2007 A6 4.2 into an Audi dealer with a coolant leak. I was pretty sure it was the overflow tank and I was right. Has anyone else had it replaced by an Audi dealer, and what did it cost?

The cost that I was quoted seems high.

I would say about 180 for the tank itself (OEM) and an additional 120 to 150 to install as they will probably bill you for an hour of labor to replace it and bleed the system. So between $300 and $330. This was just a guess on my part, I could be WAY off. What did they quote you?

The tank is about $50 and you can do it yourself if you can turn a screwdriver. This is too easy to pay the stealer $170 for the 2 hours they will charge. Drain a little fluid or suck it out and then do the swap.

I didn't want to tell the poor guy because he probably has already committed to the charge But yes, it's almost a no-tools-required job.

Part number on that coolant tank is 4F0-121-403-M for the 4.2 and runs 37.20 dollars, in stock also. Plus the radiator cap if needed. Plus shipping of 10-12 dollars UPS ground. I also agree, that tank is probably located high enough you can remove and refill without losing much coolant, which makes bleeding air out an easier job.
