What will make power mirrors not work.
I have had no power mirror adjustments on my 96 Avant since I owned it. The fuse it fine so what else can it be.
The heating works and if its tied to my memory seats it works also. I have noticed that it has moved on its own one time when I unlock the car with my remote, The only other thing that happens is the memory seats wont move to the settings unles I hold the button, otherwise it works when I just press it.
So can anyone please help me out, this seems to be a problem and alot have run accros but the question is left unanswerd.

I just took apart the switch and looked around inside, everyting looks good I don't see anything wrong with it. I couldn't find my test light to check it for power but I will try that when I do.

RE: What will make power mirrors not work.
If you did in fact see it move when you hit you remove, that means that the servos that control movement of the mirrors are getting a signal. So, I'd have to suspect you switch. You can ring www.claireparts.com and they'll look up the part number and cost for you. Should not be too expensive to change that if it's your problem.
As for the memory seats... They will not move all the way unless you hold down the button when the engine is running. It's a safety feature to prevent the seat from suddenly moving at the inadvertant press of a button when operating the vehicle. Try pressing the button once when the key is in the accessory position. Should move all the way for you.
Good luck.

RE: What will make power mirrors not work.
I have a 2001 4.2 and my mirrors have never worked. I'm pretty sure it's the switch, but I'm just not motivated to try to fix it. It's the only thing that doesn't work on my car.
