My a6 is nearing 50k, I was wondering, whats the highest mileage I could chip and still be relatively safe?

50 is nothing. I'd say that is below the norm even, since a lot of people wait until the car is out of warranty. I'm at 62 and plan to get to it soon (spring).

I chipped mine at 100k. You should be fine at 50k though you're getting close to your timing belt job.

Chipped mine (GIAC) at 79k and now have 110k. Did have to replace the clutch/flywheel at 92k, though.
