Default Wheel Cover tool

Have had my A6 for 4 years and got my first flat tire this past weekend. Reached into the spare compartment and grabbed this POS tool to remove cover off lug nuts. (sport wheels). Didn't take me too long to realize the bloody thing wasn't going to do the job. Anyone know where to get a functional tool for removing the wheel cover? Appreciate it.

I am not familiar with the sport wheels of a 2001 A6 2.7, but The kind of lug nut covers I have I use a very loose (no pressure) set of vice grips. Mine are just little plastic caps. I am trying to think of what other kind there would be, the one with the metal plate in front looks like a few hex nuts to get it off (a hex wrench ). I am going to guess it is the plastic caps with the small center cap like my wheel though. If they are, one of those small (big enough to get around the cap) vice grips with it very loose slides it right off.

Don't think we're talking the same wheel. Mine closely resemble the BBS RC 360 Wheel. The center cap has a ridge-like edge around the entire circumference. Appreciate the response, though.

I have the same wheel and same problem on removing the center cap. The plasticss BBS tool sucks! Is there a metal one? Where can I find it? Thanks!

I'm not sure if I have the same lug nut cover, but it's the silver plastic with a small hole that requires some kind of tool? Iuse a hex wrench (L-shaped wrench) of the right size to slip in the hole and lever off the cover. Cheap and effective.
