Wheel Offsets and Wheels for 2001 A6 27T
Not sure if I posted in the right forum as no response to question. Here goes again.
I have been searching through prior posts about what other Audi (year and model) OEM rims will fit my 2001 A6 2.7T. I want a set of extra wheels and prefer to move up to 17's if possible. I know the big front calipers limit my choices. I measured the 16x7 OEM spare and it looks like about 32mm for offset and measured my son's 2000 S4 2.7T and his looks to be about 38mm. Could be off a few mm's. Most posts show 45mm as offset for 2001 A6 2.7. Is this correct and I am way off on my measurements? Also, I see that there are some references to 2001 Allroad 17's fitting 2001 A6. Thought Allroad is around 20mm from some googling. Last, I looked at Tire Rack and they seem to be so generic in their offsets that I don't find them useful for OEM wheels.
Really appreciate if someone can advise which model, year, etc Audi OEM wheels would work on my car besides the present ones (16) and 17's. Thanks so much!

I Used a 35 mm Offset with a 8" Wheel that worked perfect on my 2001 2.8 FWD. Didn't need any spacers. Coming from the stock 16" tires. I did use this wheel offset calculator from these guys http://www.gtsparkplugs.com/WheelOffsetCalc.html when I was looking around.
I researched wheels for the early 2.7t a few years ago. From what I found then, No other 16 inch wheels will fit. Very few 17's and more 18 inch have room. You'll need to go to 19" to have much selection. Even the wheels from the A8 need modifications to keep from rubbing the brakes. I stayed with stock 16" wheels for both summer and winter tires.
Today's options may be better.

Any size tire would fit, you just have to make sure you use the right offset. If you have the 2.7t with big brakes, you will need a larger offset wheel to make room for the brakes.
Basically you will be able to find a ton of 17" wheels with different offsets to suit your needs try http://www.oewheels.com.
You should be fine with a 17x7.5 wheel with a 38mm or 45mm offset. This should also push wheels out towards the fender to give the car a more aggressive stance

I really appreciate everyone's input. I guess the lack of wheel interchangeability is a minor thing compared to the great handling and stopping abilities of this car. Fun car to drive. Guess I will swap out tires for this season and keep searching for correct OEM wheel for next year. John
