...after a LOT of soul searching and trying to get various deals via classifieds, etc. I have decided to go new.

I wanted to shed the weight of the wheels that I am running now (the OEM RS6 wheels are almost 29lbs!). Ideally I wanted 18" forged and lighter. I was close to pulling the trigger on BBS RS-GTs in the 18" size (only 20 lbs!) when I found from the BBS website that they list the A6 4.2 as proper fitment. However, the experts from Tire Rack assured me that the BBS website is wrong...they test fitted those wheels and found them to require spacers to clear the HP2 calipers (which I want to avoid).

I also considered the BBS RXII in 18x8.5" ET32, but those are 26.3 lbs...hardly any weight savings there. I next turned to the BBS CH in the 18x8.5" ET 35, but they are still a heavy wheel (24.5 lbs) and not forged, although a fairly strong wheel due to the design. Leaning this way, I started to search online for the best deal I could find.

However, my eye quickly turned to the Volk lineup. They are forged and light, meeting my criteria. However, they are VERY hard to find in the 5x112 bolt pattern, since they are made in Japan for Japanese cars (no rice comments please!). I found a local wheel distributor that worked out pricing for a "special order" set that will fit the Audi, and will take 60-90 days. I just have to decide between two wheels...

Option 1 is the Volk TE37 racing wheel (forged 17.2 lbs) in gunmetal (I might consider these in the silver finish instead):

I was leaning toward option 1 since I saw the TE37s on nene's RS6 previously (although he ran 19" and staggered), and I thought they looked nice...simple design...
