Wheels - 18"? "custom application" woes.
I can't get anyone to tell me jack, so I'm coming to the pros.
I have a 2004 A6 2.7T Quattro with HP2 brakes. I'd like to put 18" wheels with 245/40/18 tires on the car.
The car currently has H&R/Bilstein combo suspension, Mille Miglia 1000 17x7" ET35 wheels with NO spacers on the front, 10mm for looks on the rear.
None of the wheel places I've called are willing to tell me "yes, that will fit", or worse, they say it "may require" 15mm spacers on the front. (based on the 4.2L C5 series which had upgraded brakes)
Looking at the car with current 17"s, the wheels are pretty much pushed to the fenders now, 18"s with 15mm spacers would extend outside the wheel well.
What works?

I run 18" X 8" wide wheels with 43mm offset. 235/40/18 tires and 10 mm spacers in the front and 15 mm in the back and stock suspension height. Outside of the tires are pretty much aligned with the fender edge. Inside has about 8 mm clearance in the front.
The rims will work, but 245s are too wide. With lowered suspension, 235s are risking it. I would go with 225s if the rims are 8 inches wide.
