Default where is a fuel filter DIY?

i have searched all over and cant find one. I remember someone saying that you just need some vice grips to get the strap undone, but what about the fuel lines? Am i going to get covered in gas?

I found this: http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/799228.phtml

And this: http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/784947.phtml which you can get to through the first link.

It appears this guy didn't crimp the fuel lines but apparently it wasn't too messy as I would assume he wouldn've written about it. I'll be tackling this this weekend.

Good luck!

--Relieving the fuel pressure:

With engine running pull out the fuel pump fuse (28 0r 24).

Use new washers or rejuvenate the old ones. (Copper gets soft when well heated is submerged into cold water).

The rest of the procedure is excellent!

So, crimpers are not really necessary then? Not a lot of leakage then?

i actually just changed it. Pulled the 28 fuel pump fuse and let the car die. it sprays fuel as soon as you loosen the bolts, i had ski goggles on thankfully it also dumps a little bit of fuel, not bad maybe a beer can amount. then just put new washers in and it was good to go. Started leaking a bit at first so i had to crank down on the bolts. very easy, took maybe 20min.
