I'm new to Audi's and just purchased my '99 A6 Quattro.
I just did a oil change with Mobil 1 synthetic 5w 30.
Is it better to use 5w 40, 10w 30 or 5w 30?
I ddi read the manual but a little bit confusing and doesnt say which is best or recommended.
Thanks in advance.

My change costs $80 with Mobile 1 standard oil 5w30. Having the dealer go to Synth would cost another $45 bucks which isnt bad..heres why...A case of 6 5w30 full synthetic mobil 1 costs $36 at National Auto Parts. My car takes up to 8 quarts.I would have to pay another $36 to get another 6..stuff is not cheap with todays prices. I can get the dealer to do it for $45 extra saving a whopping $27 bucks...movie for 2..LOL I know, I know, its petty but hell $$ is $$. Anyways, better deal at the dealer and peace of mind. Once you go synth your not suppossed to go back so get used to paying more [8D]
Just buy the oil yourself and do it, its much cheaper. you will find everything you need to do is right there once you take the lower pan off. (which is the biggest pain of the job) Just use a wrench to take out the oil drain plug, once that is mellowed out from poring oil out you can slowly unscrew your oil filter. Put the new filter on put the drain plug back in fill it back up with oil.
