Default Window problems, rolling up.

Don't know how weird this may sound but here goes. I roll down my windows (front ones particularly), they roll down fine, but they roll back up REALLY slow and sometimes get stuck and go back down. To get them to roll up I have to sometimes push the glass up, roll it up and take breaks. Now... For the weird part, this happens more often when there's water present, (car wash, rain).

When it's dry, they roll up without jamming but they still roll up slowly. Is there any known cause for this? I'd love to take the door panel off and check it out, as I would of done right away in my old 300e. But with this car, phew, looks a tad bit more complicated.

I wish I could give you a diagnosis. I had the same problem with a rear window a couple winters ago. It would go down fine but not go up or go up partially and then stop. Eventually I got it up (the window), and left it alone for a while. The problem did not come back.

Window regulator clips inside your door are bad. They cost $7 each from a dealership. If you are mechanically inclined, it will take you about 45 minutes to replace them on your own. You just need to have 2 clips per side, normal tools and triple square bits.

This is a common issue with Audis. I bought 2 new windows guides from dealer and used an excellent write up from AudiWorld. The door glass uses 2 plastic guides to pull up/down the glass window. Usually 1 guide will break causing the window to bind, not go up, then go down. On my car, it was the guide on the rear of the glass, I replaced it and the pass window went up/down perfectly. About a month later the drivers glass did the same, again changed the guide and it works normally. I did buy a 25 or 30 Torx socket for the job.

Wolf,

would you be able to recall where exactly the writeup is?
I would really appreciate the help. I skimmed through AudiWorld, but wasn't able to locate it.
Thanks much in advance.

I would post a link but it won't show up the actual URL on the address bar, anyways it's the 14th article up from the bottom on the Interior Tech Articles page. =D

Something else just rose up out of nowhere, its been getting cold lately, and when I start the car up while it is cold I hear a loud whirring/air sucking noise. I tried accelerating to see if it was the engine but it is not, it's stops right when the RPM's go to a normal level. Anything common I should look out for? Also my air flow sensor is bad, would that have anything to do with it?

Bless you. I found it .
I got there from other sources, and it took me a while to realise that I was only looking at the "Electronics" articles.

As far as the newly developed problem, I wish I could give you some advise, but I'm fairly much a newbie in the Audi family.
If I were you, I would try giving the MAF sensor cleaning a shot first, then see if it keeps making the noise.

Thisa may sound stupid for the Audi vets in here, but I have a friend who has a 05 Jetta (so, fairly new) and his car always was much noisier (than let's say a Toyota, Nissan, Honda, etc) when first starting it, winter or summer. After gets warmed up it is pretty quiet.
I noticed the same thing with the Audi, and my conclusion (probably a bad one) is that the German engines are somewhat rougher at start-up than Japanese or American cars. I
would really like to know if my conclusion is flawd, or indeed all the Audis have a rougher(noisier) start.

Anyway, too much digression on my part. Thanks again!

Nothing to really worry about. It is just the secondary air pump kicking in to heat up the motor fast.

As for you MAF sensor being bad, I would try cleaning it first before plopping down for a new one. Use MAF sensor cleaner. You need temper proof torx bit to remove the sensor.
