Default Winter, info?

i plan a trip TX(houston-stop in dallas)-NM(taos) this winter , total miles ~1700 , round trip. my tires are all season, new brakes , i have an 01 a6 , 2.8 quattro , 68k miles on it. runs good so far. i already replace my coolant with 50-50 mix antifreeze , and replace the windshield liquid with winter type. i plan do an oil change (5w-30wcastrol)right before leaving. what else i should take in consideration for winter , i mean what should i prepare..or check before trip. thank you

Hmm, Id check tire pressures for sure, bring an extra quart of engine oil with you, possibly some coolant too, since VAG is so finiky about G12 coolant. Make sure the spare has air as well. Id think about 0W-40 mobil 1 for oil though, its what VAG changed its recomondation to. Though, anything with the VW 502 rating on it will do. on this page, there is a list of oil... http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=129311 I think thats about it off the top o my head, Im sure others will have more ideas... have a fun/safe trip!

Audis are right at home in the snow. Seems like you pretty much took care of everything. Just have fun in the snow.

Winter wiper blades and a can of fix a flat. Better the original tire filled with fix a flat than a doughnut spare espically in the snow.

True, but he should have an alloy spare. Mine does and our cars are about identical.
